Why do plastic windows sweat?

The sweating problem of plastic windows is of great concern, as the water droplets accumulating on the windows need to be wiped from time to time, in addition, "sweated" windows can cause mold. So, why are plastic windows sweating and how can we combat this?

The main causes of sweating windows

The main cause of sweating plastic windows is their airtightness. Thus, the moisture in the room transforms into vapors and accumulates on the window glass. As the window glass is the coldest area of the room, in cold weather the vapor quickly transforms into water. This results in condensation.  In strong colds the water droplets freeze and transform into ice surface. This occurs especially in the kitchen.

Thus, the main cause of the sweating plastic windows is the lack of conditioning and extra moisture in the room.
Another reason of condensation creation can become the blockage of the drainage paths at the bottom of the profiles. As a result, the fluid may accumulate within the profiles.

The methods to combat window condensation

To combat or prevent the accumulation of moisture on the windows, you first need to ventilate the room several times a day for 15-20 minutes or install an air conditioner so that moist in the room does not accumulate on the windows but goes out of the room.

Besides, it is necessary to check at least twice a year whether the profile drainage holes are blocked. If they are blocked, it is necessary to clean them so that the moist on the windows leaks out and does not accumulate.
